Benton City crafts new partnership with Revenue’s licensing service

More than 20 communities in the Yakima Valley connect local license processes

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Feb. 3, 2022 – A wine-making Yakima Valley community is the newest partner of the state Department of Revenue’s Business Licensing Service (BLS).

Benton City, population 3,500, is in the heart of a rich viticultural region that produces world-renowned grape varietals, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, in the nation’s second-largest wine-producing state.

More than 20 Yakima Valley communities between Ellensburg and the Tri-Cities are connected in the same licensing system. BLS streamlines the license application and renewal processes for thousands of businesses, such as contractors, who do business in more than one city.

The service is a free benefit to communities and a familiar service to businesses that access the system in the same portal as their state tax account. More than 190 cities and towns are connected by BLS. Find the list of all local partners on the city license endorsements page.
