Historic Pomeroy adds Revenue’s combined licensing solution

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Sept. 16, 2021 – The historic city of Pomeroy is the newest city partner of the Department of Revenue’s Business Licensing Service.

Pomeroy, the seat of Garfield County, is home to 1,500 residents and dozens of businesses. Founded 135 years ago on land once surveyed by Lewis and Clark, Pomeroy boasts a 10-block downtown district that is on the National Historic Register.

Today, a new chapter for Pomeroy commerce begins as the city connects its local business licensing to the same system as regional neighbors Pullman, Clarkston, and Walla Walla. Pomeroy business license requirements are now synced to the same system where businesses report state excise taxes and apply for and renew business licenses and hundreds of endorsements by state agencies, such as liquor licenses and minor work permits.

Since 1997, BLS has offered local licensing support to a growing list Washington communities. Find the list of all local partners on the City license endorsements page.

The Department of Revenue is Washington state’s primary tax agency, nationally recognized as a trusted leader in tax administration and customer service. Revenue administers nearly 60 categories of taxes that help fund vital public services. It also oversees programs that return money to the public, including the Working Families Tax Credit and Unclaimed Property.
