Sales tax now applies to some services

Starting October 1: Some business services are now subject to retail sales tax, as required by state law, ESSB 5814. When you buy these services, vendors should add sales tax to your bill. Tukwila joins state’s business licensing service

OLYMPIA, WASH. – March 28, 2019 – The Department of Revenue today announces the city of Tukwila as a business licensing service (BLS) partner.

Tukwila is home to 20,000 and hundreds of businesses near Washington’s busiest airport. Tukwila businesses can now register for business licenses and renewals with the service. The city joins 15 King County neighbors, with Federal Way, Mercer Island and SeaTac joining later this year.
