Sales tax now applies to some services

Starting October 1: Some business services are now subject to retail sales tax, as required by state law, ESSB 5814. When you buy these services, vendors should add sales tax to your bill. Snohomish joins neighbors as state combined licensing partner

OLYMPIA, WASH. – March 14, 2019 – Today, the Department of Revenue announced the city of Snohomish is the newest local licensing partner for the state’s business licensing service.

Snohomish joins nearby Lake Stevens, Marysville and other Snohomish County BLS partners. Within the next two years, 15 cities in Snohomish County will be BLS partners.

Through BLS, Snohomish businesses can apply for more than 400 different state and local business registrations in a single transaction. Businesses can also use their secure My DOR account to renew all of these licenses in a streamlined online process.
