Sales tax now applies to some services

Starting October 1: Some business services are now subject to retail sales tax, as required by state law, ESSB 5814. When you buy these services, vendors should add sales tax to your bill. Cheney, home of the Eagles, soars into BLS partnership

OLYMPIA, WASH. – Aug 1, 2019 – The Department of Revenue today announced that Cheney has become the newest partner in the state’s Business Licensing Service.

Cheney, at the top of the Columbia Plateau and 15 miles southwest of Spokane, is the 101st local government to join the signature service that combines state and local licensing processes. Cheney is home to about 11,000 residents and more than 500 active businesses that serve students of Eastern Washington University, residents and workers.
