Sales tax now applies to some services

Starting October 1: Some business services are now subject to retail sales tax, as required by state law, ESSB 5814. When you buy these services, vendors should add sales tax to your bill. State welcomes Centralia to combined licensing partnership

OLYMPIA, WASH. – Aug. 2, 2018 – Today, the Department of Revenue announced the city of Centralia is the newest local licensing partner for the state’s one-stop for business licensing.

Centralia is home to more than 1,500 licensed businesses. Its neighbor, Chehalis, will join BLS later this month. The added service benefits hundreds of businesses in both communities.

BLS partner cities are located all around Washington state. The licensing service helps businesses manage more than 400 different state and local registrations and renewal transactions in a single application.
