Mount Vernon businesses join state's 'one stop' licensing shop

OLYMPIA - June 1, 2017 - Registering or renewing a business license in the City of Mount Vernon just became easier and more convenient after the city today joined the state's Business Licensing Service.

Mount Vernon becomes one of 68 total cities who have partnered with the state's Business Licensing Service. Mount Vernon businesses will now register and renew their city licenses using MyDOR, the one-stop shop that brings local licensing together with state program registrations, such as liquor licenses.

The Business Licensing Service is a clearinghouse for business licensing, offering nearly 400 unique registrations and endorsements from state agencies and partner cities. The Washington State Department of Revenue (Revenue) manages one of the few systems nationwide allowing businesses to simultaneously register with state agencies and cities in a single annual transaction.

Registered businesses located inside Mount Vernon city limits will be mailed notices to renew their city licenses through the Business Licensing Service about 45 days before those licenses are set to expire.

Mount Vernon is nestled on the banks of the Skagit River. It is home to nearly 35,000 people and more than 2,000 businesses.
