Ellensburg hitches business licenses to streamlined state service

Olympia, Wash. – Nov. 30, 2017 – The Department of Revenue today lassoes another local business licensing partner. The central Washington city of Ellensburg, home to a nationally famous rodeo, is the newest partner in the state Business Licensing Service (BLS).

BLS is the state’s streamlined “one-stop-service” for business licensing application, renewal, and payment processes. It serves as a clearinghouse offering about 400 licenses, registrations and endorsements from state agency programs and partner cities. Through BLS, cities like Ellensburg bring local requirements together with state licenses, such as minor work permits and liquor licenses to benefit businesses.

Ellensburg, with about 1400 registered businesses, is the 72nd BLS city partner. It is the county seat of Kittitas County with a population of 20,000 and home to Central Washington University.
