State Tax Video Now Available in Spanish
Olympia, Wash., Dec. 29, 2009 — One of the state’s most popular online tax videos, “Plan for and Pay Your Taxes,” is now available in Spanish.
The video, a joint effort of the departments of Revenue, Labor and Industries and Employment Security, is intended to help startup businesses understand their tax obligations when conducting business in Washington.
Revenue Director Cindi Holmstrom said the agency developed the video to help minority-operated businesses succeed in the marketplace. She said a small business survival study by the Department indicated that fledgling businesses sometimes fail because they don’t adequately understand or prepare for taxes and other regulatory obligations.
“Survival rates increase when businesses fully understand how to conduct business in Washington,” Revenue Director Cindi Holmstrom said. “We’re interested in helping every new business succeed.”
Like other online tutorials, the video is separate into chapters and can be viewed in Flash, QuickTime or other formats. It also can be embedded in other web sites.
The English-language version has been a popular download on http://business.wa.gov in the past year. The Spanish-language version can be found alongside other Department videos.
