Everett – June 29, 2012 – An Everett siding contractor pled guilty Thursday to first degree theft of more than $45,000 in sales tax he collected on jobs but never remitted to the state.

Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Thomas J. Wynne accepted the plea of Veniamin M. Semenyuk, 28.  Semenyuk already had paid all taxes owed plus penalties and interest, and Wynne ordered him to pay an additional $600 in court costs.

The charges were brought by the Washington State Attorney General’s Office at the request of the Washington State Department of Revenue.

Semenyuk operated Quality Exterior, Inc from 2006 until the Department revoked his license in 2011 over failure to report taxes he collected from customers.

The Department audited Semenyuk after he failed to file any required state tax returns. He refused to provide the Department with invoices, but auditors were able to establish that he had charged customers sales tax.
