Flooring contractor gets six months in jail for conducting business after license revocation

Kennewick – April 13, 2011 – A Richland flooring contractor was sentenced today to six months in jail after pleading guilty to felony theft of sales tax and operating his business after his license was revoked.

Daniel Clarence Medlock, 39, had been charged with continuing to operate Cutting Edge Hardwood Floors after the Department of Revenue revoked his license in 2009 over nonpayment of taxes.

Medlock pled guilty last year but was given time to make restitution before sentencing.  He made $7,000 of $12,500 in restitution.

In addition to the jail time, Benton County Superior Court Judge Craig Matheson ordered Medlock to complete making restitution.

The charges were brought by the Criminal Justice Division of the Attorney General’s Office at the request of the Department of Revenue.
